Car Insurance Volkswagen (Car Insurance). Equinox 2011: 4-cylinder or V6 engine?Equinox 2011: 4-cylinder or V6 engine? Hi, I'm trying to decide between a 2.4L 4-cyl or 3.0L v6 engine on an Equinox 2011. I was originally super-sure that I wanted the 4 cylinder engine because it sounds like it would save me some gas but now I'm not so sure about it. I think I put my current engine under stress sometimes and I don't know if the 4 cylinder could....well, handle me :) I currently own a 2008 Equinox. It's got a 3.4L V6 engine and I love to drive it pretty fast on the highway (maybe 80, not too crazy). Even in the city, I tend to go gas pedal-happy sometimes. Usually, when I accelerate my rpms rarely go past 3000...which I think is pretty good but correct me if I'm wrong. However, like I said, it feels strained sometimes when I accelerate quickly, like when I'm getting on the highway and going from around 40 mph to 65 or 70mph. From what I've read, it sounds like the 4 cylinder might suck more at acceleration but I'm not very car-savvy so I'm not too sure. Anyway, for the most part I drive around town a lot but I also take short trips frequently (usually no more than 115 miles from where I live) using the highway. I usually travel alone or with 1 or 2 passengers, with no heavy cargo. I don't know if it matters but my current transmission is a 5-speed and the 2011 model has a 6-speed. What's your opinion on this? Should I go with the 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder? I would get the 6 cylinder if you can swing the difference in price. the V-6 is very good, you cant go up any real type of incline in the V-4 because the top speed is only like 110 but it has horrible acceleration... The 6-speed is alot better because you can have more control over your vehicle. The 4 cylinder will use slightly less gas, and be somewhat less powerful. If you're only going up to 3000 RPM, you're not accelerating very hard as it is. Auto parts : Power Steering Pump Pulley Acura 1995 . Power Steering Pump Pulley Tool Alfa Romeo 1996 . One is held on with a nut that you can remove with a ratchet; the other is an electrical connector that requires you to press down on a tab and pull the connector straight out. 5 Remove the alternator with a ratchet. The alternator is held on by two long bolts that thread into the engine block. Remove the alternator from the engine. 6 Install the new alternator onto the engine and thread in the bolts. Tighten the bolts with a ratchet. 7 Reconnect the two electrical connectors onto the new alternator. 8 Place the alternator belt back onto the alternator, and tighten the belt tensioner with a wrench or ratchet. Tighten the alternator belt to 1/2 inch of belt deflection. If you would like to be precise, place a ruler against the belt perpendicularly and see how far down you can push it. If you can push the belt down more than 1/2 inch, tighten the belt some more; then tighten the lock nut to keep the belt tensioned. Tips & Warnings Check the condition of the alternator belt. If there are many cracks in the belt, replace it so that it doesn't break while you are driving. Suggest item Thanks for suggesting an item. Tip Warning ItemAdd Item DoneResourcesVW Golf alternator

Attached to the inside surface of a metal master cylinder is a rubber diaphragm with two rubber cups (see Figure 18-3). Caps on plastic reser voirs have them, too. As the brake fluid in your master cylinder recedes (when it's forced into the brake lines), the diaphragm cups are pushed down by air that comes in through vents in the lid. The rubber cups descend and touch the surface of the remaining brake fluid, to prevent evaporation and to keep the dust and dirt out. When the fluid flows back in, the rubber cups are pushed back up. Look inside the master cylinder. The brake fluid should be up to the "Full" line on the side of the cylinder or within half an inch of the top of each chamber. If it isn't, buy brake fluid and add it to the line. Be sure to read the "Flushing and Changing Brake Fluid" section in this chapter to ensure that you buy the proper kind. Also remember to close the master cylinder and the brake fluid container as quickly as possible so that oxygen or water vapor in the air doesn't contaminate the fluid. A low brake fluid level may not mean anything if it's been a long time since any fluid was added, and if your car has been braking properly. If you have reason to believe that your brake fluid level has dropped because of a leak, use this chapter to check the rest of your system very carefully for leaks. 4. If your fluid level was low, you'll find the cause as you continue to check the system. 6. Take a flashlight, or a work light, and look for stain marks, wetness, or gunk under the master cylinder and on the firewall near it. If your master cylinder is — or has been — leaking, you'll see this evidence. It's a good idea to check your master cylinder at least every couple of months — more often if it was low in fluid when you last checked it. This step should be part of the regular under-the-hood check that I describe in Chapter 3. Checking your brake lines If the fluid level in your master cylinder remains full (see the preceding section), chances are that you don't need to check for leaks in the brake lines that carry the fluid to each wheel cylinder. If, however, you find that you're losing brake fluid, or if the insides of your tires are wet and look as though something has been leaking and streaking them, it could be a leak in the wheel cylinders or the lines — or a visit from a neighbor's dog!
